Seconds of a tornado crashing Hundreds of Houses in Rancaekek

Indo Kanal. Tornadoes destroyed hundreds of homes in six villages in Rancaekek sub-district, Bandung regency. Luckily this incident did not cause casualties.

A tornado that occurred on Friday (1/11/2019) afternoon, one of which damaged the house belonging to a widow named Nafsiyah (67), who is a resident of Kencana 2 Housing, Jelegong Village, Rancaekek District.

AFP monitored on Saturday (1/12/2019) the house that was inhabited alone by Nafsiyah, suffered considerable damage. The roof of Nafsiyah's house collapsed due to being swept away by the wind. In addition, items in his house, such as kitchen utensils, chairs, cabinets, paintings, were damaged.

Nafsiyah said that this natural disaster occurred in the afternoon, when she was cooking in her kitchen.

"After the incident, I was cooking to hear there was a commotion outside. I ran away, it turned out that my neighbor had seen a whirlwind in the sky," Nafsiyah said, met at her house.

Nafsiyah, and other residents immediately ran towards the mosque to save themselves. At the time of the incident, he saw a windmill carrying garbage.

"Many were scattered, garbage and all kinds of things including building debris. I ran away, before I turned off the stove first, immediately looked for protection to find a large area, apparently the wind followed and I went to the mosque and returned home, I carried my grandchildren, I saw him , "he said.

In the condition of drenched clothes, because after the tornado happened to rain, Nafsiyah returned to her house to change clothes. However, when opening the door, his house was damaged by a tornado.

"I want to change clothes, open the door of my house, the condition is like this. It's all destroyed," he explained.

As a result of this incident, only the roof of the Nafsiyah house's room was not damaged. But still the roof of the room leaked so it could not be occupied. He also now fled to his son's house which is still a complex.

"I sleep in my child, my child is different in blocks but not hit. So sleep there in Block D, this is Block B, I just returned home here," he said.

According to him, almost 90 percent of his houses were damaged and could not be occupied. "The damage is 90 percent, the rooms also leak, all are damaged, in front there is also no use and must be repaired," he said.

Meanwhile, other residents Fifit (45) said, there were two wind vortices at the time of the incident. The first whirlwind was not too large and the second whirlwind occurred quite large and damaged the residents' houses.

"The wind is twice, the first wind is not damaging. The houses of many residents are damaged in the second wind, the rubble of the building is swept away by the wind and immediately scattered," he explained.

Another resident, Iman (36) said before destroying the residents' houses, the whirlwind had been seen from afar and poked the water in the pesawahan then headed towards the settlement. "The duration is about five minutes from the start of the whirlwind to destroy people's homes. Thank God I and my family survived," he said.

He added, at the time of the incident, the local residents fled to the field. "The main thing is we are looking for a field, which has no buildings. Obviously when the wind destroys people's homes," he concluded.
